Inferences in SketchUp

As you are modeling, SketchUp gives color-coded feedback regarding exactly where the cursor is within your 3D modeling space. Green dots = Endpoints, Red dots = On an edge, Cyan Dots = Midpoints of edges and Blue dots = On a surface. Red, Blue and Green lines correspond to axis directions. Magenta lines indicate something is parallel or perpendicular to a particular edge.

To tell SketchUp when you want to infer a point or edge, just hover your cursor over that item for a few seconds. As you move your cursor away, SketchUp should remember you are interested in that point. Press and hold SHIFT to capture and lock any inference, both directions and points. Once an inference is locked, move your cursor to any other part of your model to reference other geometry for precise alignments or to aid in creating complex forms.
